How We Reimagined Developer Assessment: From Resumes to Voice AI Interviews

Resumes are noise, interviews are preparation, classic tests are easily bypassed by AI. We explain how we're building a new developer assessment system based on skill evidence and voice screening.

Authors: slavb18

We've thought long and hard about how to properly assess developers.

And we've come to an uncomfortable conclusion:

  • 📄 resumes are noise
  • 🧠 interview answers are often prepared
  • 🤖 and classic tests are easily bypassed with AI

That's why we're building a different system.

🔍 How the New Assessment Will Work

We are moving away from "trusting words" → to skill evidence:

  • analysis of code and reactions to errors
  • verification of logical thinking, not just the result
  • assessment of answer depth in real-time
  • several independent AI assessments
  • a final calibrated score, not an "interviewer's feeling"

👉 Key idea: it's not what the candidate said, but how they think that matters.

🎤 Next Step - Voice Screening

We are currently preparing to launch voice interviews (beta is already internal).

What this will provide:

  • live dialogue instead of forms
  • skill verification without "prepared answers"
  • analysis of terminology, pauses, confidence
  • dynamic questions tailored to the candidate
  • identification of "hallucinations" and embellished experience

👉 Essentially, this isn't "a bot asking questions," but AI conducting a technical interview like an engineer.

⚙️ What's Important

This isn't just recruiter automation.

This is an attempt to build a system that:

  • learns from hiring outcomes itself
  • understands the real skill level, not just the resume
  • and over time becomes more accurate than any human

We are currently testing internally. Access will soon be opened to early specialists.
